Q&A: Why didn’t my cookies get brown?

I tried a new recipe for chocolate chip cookies last night, the cookie will never be brown. They turned pale and unappetizing. I remember something about one of Food Network shows, when Alton Brown made biscuits, and he said something to add cookies bake until golden brown they done, but I do not remember what was the ingredient. Is it baking soda? The only recipe for baking powder 1 / 2 teaspoon called, and I do not think it was enough, but I followed the recipe anyway. I am looking for a recipe for a sweet mango chutney. One of my favorites is a mango chutney at Aloha Stadium flea market, sold in Hawaii. It has in it a little spice, but it is much milder than the ones I tried in stores. (I recently did one of the Food Network by Alton Brown, then please not that one). Please send a reply best recipe:
